When searching for your Duval County real estate if you are considering the possibilities of moving into a condominium, you will want to ponder some of the common benefits and pitfalls.

The Benefits

There are many great advantages found in living in a condo today.   One of the main pleasures is convenience. Unlike a single family home, you do not have all of the maintenance, landscaping and other exterior responsibilities that are very time consuming. Another benefit is security. Today’s condominium communities often possess private, 24 hour security. In addition, many condo communities are gated. With crime always a concern, the added security from your condo complex can provide additional peace of mind.  The newest condo communities also allow you the chance to enjoy knowing whom your neighbors are with a great deal of effort spent developing a sense of community between the residents. Many condo communities also have weekly social events throughout the year giving residents lovely opportunities to get to know their neighbors far better.

The Pitfalls

Much like renting, the main pitfalls of condo living include the many rules and regulations set by the condo association, and sharing common areas with other owners. Your neighbors are much closer to you than in a house and many times you can still hear what’s going on through the walls of the neighboring unit, just as in apartments.  Condo owners must also pay escalating maintenance fees, which cover such things as water, landscaping and building upkeep.

The Choice

While choosing between a house and a condo in your search for your Duval County real estate, a great advantage is to work with a good Realtor. Having them help assess your needs and determine which would be the best option for you.

I think you're right. Living in a condo has got many adavantages. But I think it's a choice for people without kids. Until your place is big enough I wouldn't recommend you to raise up kids. The same goes for pets. But when you are looking for a place to live, without having to bother with maintance and upkeeping, you should go for a condomonium. I'm dealing with Toronto condos and I've had my share of experience with detached houses, too. The choice is really up to the specific client, upon his special needs.
