A Brief History of Jacksonville, Florida

As with most Florida cities, Jacksonville is an area that is very abundant in history dating back thousands of years.  However, it wasn’t really until the year 1822 that it was called “Jacksonville.” Jacksonville was a very important city throughout the American Civil War, as it was called on to supply hogs and cattle for the Confederates.
