Fleming Island is its own community southwest of Jacksonville in Clay County. An actual island, it measures 23 square miles and has its very own zip code (32003)! With a population of over 25,000, it is a relatively intimate bedroom community filled with families, hardworking singles, and retirees alike.
Just to the west of The St. Johns River, Fleming Island contains 7 miles of a walking/jogging/bike path for its residents. Black Creek Park on the south side o the island gives residents access to natural hikes and water sports like kayaking. Doctors Lake to the north is a popular boating and fishing destination. And the Swimming Pen Creek to the west is a popular hangout! If you love being surrounded by water, Fleming Island would be ideal for you!
Eagle Harbor, Pace Island and Fleming Island Plantation are three of the most developed and populated neighborhoods. Most of the neighborhoods do come with an HOA, CDD, or both, but the common areas are beautiful kept. It’s clear where the money in these neighborhoods goes to serves its residents.
You’ll find that despite being on an island, you're only about 15-20 minutes from Jacksonville, Orange Park, and St. Johns. State Road 17 takes you straight to 295, and from there you can easily navigate your way to other major state roads and highways. A secluded feeling without being cut off from the rest of North Florida!

The park system
The park system in Fleming Island is special. National parks like Alpine Groves and Moccasin Slough give residents a fabulous opportunity to spend time in Florida's natural beauty. With more than 20 parks, Fleming Island offer everything from hiking, jet skiing, fishing, picnics, and more!
The climate
Fleming Island’s climate is humid subtropical, but be prepared for plenty of chilly days in the winter for those cold-weather friends who might miss that feeling! With way more sunny days that gloomy, it will give you more than enough opportunity to get outside and enjoy its nature during summer and fall. (Just be sure your car has air conditioning!)
The culture
The arts and cultural landscape of Fleming Island includes The Island Theatre and plenty of schools focused on dance and theatre. The professional Thrasher-Horne Theater in Orange Park is nearby, and the Orange Park Community Theatre also offer awesome experiences for the whole family. Of course, during football season you can head downtown the to one of the nation’s most progressive stadiums to watch our Jacksonville Jaguars play on the river, only about a 30 minute drive. You can also stay and see a concert or show at the Daily’s Outdoor Amphitheatre right next door! And of course, Fleming Island has its own movie theatre.

Jacksonville is home to three naval facilities and has the third largest naval presence in the country! We love and honor our service members who call Fleming Island home, evidenced by the military discounts almost everywhere you go, as well as many annual celebrations. A quick drive to NAS up state road 17 makes it a perfect place for our military members to live.
Airports
Travel by plane regularly? The Jacksonville Airport is one of the most convenient in the south, and it’s only 35 miles from Fleming Island. A hop, skip, and jump away from Miami, Atlanta, and Orlando, you’ve got plenty of options! Fleming Island also offers several shuttle services to and from the airport if you don’t want to park and fly.
Fleming Island Schools
Clay County Public Schools offer an excellent education. There are also plenty of private schools to choose from if that’s what you prefer. With over 20 schools, you won’t be lacking in education options!
Dining
You will NOT be lacking for incredible food options in Fleming Island! There are plenty of options for family-friendly dining and even places to go if you’re single and ready to mingle! Several fine dining restaurants on the island are perfect for relaxing evenings full of good food! There are also plenty of great sports bars!
