Ponte Vedra, or Ponte Vedra Beach, received its name after the founding fathers of Mineral City FL decided that a name change was in order.  The beaches around the current town of Ponte Vedra Beach are full of rich minerals, but the name just wasn't adequate in an era that was becoming increasingly tourist-oriented.
