There are many different residential options open today to Seniors. Please browse through the options below.
First a word about the cost - There are benefits to private care facilities that must be weighed against the costly monthly fees. Depending on the level of care these monthly fees can charge upward of thousands of dollars per month. You should consult with a financial planner or accountant to see how much, if any, of these costs can be covered by Medicare, Medicaid or other government assistance.
Active Adult Communities - Today's resort communities for adults. Most are gated communities with tons of amenities that include: pool, golf club, exercise room, media room, & activities director.
Independent Living - If you in good health and a senior then this may be the place for you. This type includes age restricted communities and hotel-condos that you rent or own that include meals, activities, house keeping services and more. These usually have a community dining area for socializing. Most have transportation to shopping and other activities. Some even have their own grocery stores, houses of worship, hair salons, etc.
Assisted Living - If you need minimal assistance or a visiting nurse then this may be the right place for you. So if you need help bathing or dressing they can provide it for you. On campus or nearby will be a hospital or medical center.
Nursing Homes - For total care 24 hours a day. This is the right option for those who have deteriorating mental or physical capabilities or great difficulty with daily activities.
Continuing Care - A combination of nursing care living, assisted living and independent living. Often huge communities that have facilities that cover any amount of need. Some resident move from one to the next as their ability to care for themselves lessens.
One last word ... some facilities have waiting list. So call ahead and ask about the application process and wait time for entering one of these communities.
