If you want an exclusive golf course then The Plantation at PV is your best bet as only homeowners can be members of the golf course. So the only way a guest can play is if they are playing with a homeowner. It is also the only community that required every house to have a tile roof so it has a very clean cut, South Florida feel to it.
If you are a nature lover then Marsh Landing Golf & CC would fit your needs. It was design around the natural vegetation with winding roads preserving some trees and very lush foliage. It is a very big community that you can have the typially golf course view like other communities, marsh view, or lake view. So you will find pine trees, oak trees and palm trees more prevalent in different sections giving them different feel.
If you want to be as close as you can to the ocean then the Sawgrass Country Club would fit the bill. However, these homes tend be older in the 90's. The Plantation at PV is next closest to the ocean with it's own beach club located 5 minutes away. Also you have non-gated homes on the golf course in the "Old Ponte Vedra Area" that start at $2M which are walk to the beach and brand new homes about 12 blocks to the beach in the Atlantic Beach Country Club starting at $1.4M.
If you want convenience then the Sawgrass Players Club has not only a restaurant at the clubhouse (as all the others do) but another one in the community then shopping centers right outside the gates with more shops & restaurants. People do take their golf cart to the Sawgrass Town Center at the South Gate which you could also bike or walk to. The Sawgrass Country Club is across A1A (4 lanes). So it is also close but across the main road.
