The Top Four Reasons why it doesn’t Pay to Rush a Home PurchasePosted by Carey Frankel on Thursday, February 16th, 2012 at 8:54pm.
You’ve found the home of your dreams and you’re ready to jump into homeownership. Sounds good, right? Wrong! Diving headfirst into homeownership is usually never a good idea. That’s because when you make hasty decisions, you often make mistakes you later regret. Here are the top five reasons why rushing a Ponte Vedra Beach real estate purchase is usually never a good idea:
1. You won’t have the time to research your home loan options – Not all lenders and home loan programs are created equal, so it may take some time to find the lender and home loan that best fits your needs as a first-time homebuyer. Visit your local lenders, research home loan programs online and ask your real estate agent for a list of referrals before choosing a home loan.
2. You won’t have time to find a great real estate agent – As a first-time home buyer, the entire process may be one, big ball of confusion. A qualified real estate with experience helping first-time home buyers is usually invaluable. Without a great real estate agent, you may find yourself unable to successfully make an offer and negotiate a sales agreement. Worse, you could end up signing a sales agreement that doesn’t remotely protect you or benefit you.
3. You may find you missed key issues with the home – Many times, a home’s first impression will knock your socks off, leading you to make a hasty decision regarding the purchase of the home. Although you don’t want to wait around forever before making a decision on the home, you should take some time to decide if the home really has everything you need or want, or if the first impression clouded your judgment.
4. You won’t have a chance to view other homes – It is important to take your time so you can really see what the local real estate market has to offer. Sure, it may be tempting to make an offer on the first home you see, but you could be short changing yourself and missing out on other properties – some of which may be more suitable for you.
