If you are in the market for one of the St. Johns County homes for sale, you have many choices when it comes to picking a community or neighborhood in which to buy. There are gated and non-gated neighborhoods, as well as new construction neighborhoods or those which are more established. Which neighborhood you choose to live in is a major decision and it will affect every day of your life as you live in your new St. Johns County property. There are many things to look for in a neighborhood to ensure you are making the right choice for you and your family.
Location
The first major decision you have to make when choosing a neighborhood is the location. It is best to choose a neighborhood which has a relatively short commute to your job and to good public schools. To save on gas, you can also choose a community which is close to other convenient locations, such as shopping centers and entertainment venues.
Amenities
When you choose a community, you should choose one which has amenities you want. Imagine you live no where near the beach and during hot summers you want to go for a swim. If the specific home you purchase does not have a private pool, you should look into a neighborhood which offers a community pool. If safety is very important to you, choose a home in a gated community which restricts the people who enter the neighborhood. The amenities you need depend on the lifestyle you want to live.
Neighbors
Unless you intend to have feuds with your neighbors, it might be a good idea to try and find out a bit about the neighbors in the community before you buy a home. Not that you need to be best friends with your neighbors, but you can try to make an effort to meet a few people in the surrounding homes to see if they are at least friendly. Good neighbors can make a big difference in whether or not you enjoy living in your community.
