New Construction

Although it was never out of style, per say, wood has recently experienced a new-found place in today’s homes. From trendy lofts to period Colonials, wood is now taking center stage as a popular material for homes in Ponte Vedra Beach and across America.

Engineered wood floors, also called wood laminate floors, have increased in popularity over the last few years, and have served as an inexpensive alternative to traditional, hardwood floors. Many homeowners, however, have come to realize that nothing can replace the value and quality of a beautiful hardwood floor.

With the popularity of hardwood flooring taking center stage, homeowners have also begun to realize that wood is beautiful as cabinets, countertops, window blinds, staircases, and certainly as trim and moldings throughout the home.

Wood is warm and classic, and fits into just about any house style or design scheme. It is cost-effective and is great for a home’s resale value. From classic, inexpensive woods like pine and oak, to more exotic varieties like Brazilian cherry or white oak, wood can take the place of many synthetic materials for a more traditional, comfortable space.

Renewable Resource

The American Forest & Paper Association points out that choosing wood as a building material is an environmentally friendly choice because the number of forests in America equals twice that of the forests in the 1950s, and that we currently grow twice as many trees as we cut down.

Unlike other building materials, such as steel and concrete, wood is renewable and does not lead to the pollution and energy loss that is linked to many other types of building materials.

Domestic wood, as an industry, is generally responsible, although some problems still exist with supplying and harvesting woods from developing countries, such as Asia, Africa and South America.
