Sprucing up your Kitchen Before you Sell
Seller
Most real estate experts will agree that a hot kitchen is a great first step in selling your Jacksonville home. Simply put, kitchens sell homes.
The reason?
A kitchen is today’s version of “command central.” It’s where the family gathers, hangs out and entertains. With that said, you can be certain that buyers will be looking closely at your kitchen when it comes time to sell.
Aside from tearing down and starting over – which will cost you a fortune and take weeks to complete – there are several things you can do to spruce up the kitchen in your Jacksonville home before putting it up for sale:
- Scrub it until it shines! Washing down cabinetry is a good place to start, as it tends to attract kitchen grease and grime. You’d be surprised with how great your cabinets will look after a good scrubbing. Afterwards, go after your kitchen appliances and scrub them down, inside and out.
- Switch out cabinet hardware. This is often the most inexpensive change you can make in your kitchen, yet is often packs the biggest punch. Changing out old, outdated hardware is the easiest way to spruce things up and make older cabinets look brand new.
- Get creative with backsplashes. Another fun, and inexpensive, way to update and freshen up your kitchen is to add a decorative backsplash. Search the aisles of your home improvement store for inspiration and look for something with a punch of color. Some of the trends in kitchen backsplashes today are copper or tin tiles and glass mosaic tiles.
- Shop for fun accessories. Liven up your kitchen countertops by putting away the toaster and displaying something fun, such as colorful canisters, fresh plants or a basket of fresh fruit.
- Set the table and set the mood! A set table complete with table settings, cloth napkins and a colorful centerpiece, automatically sets the mood for the kitchen and adds warmth and hominess.
