While looking for Jacksonville real estate, it is important to choose a home that is close to the activities that are important to you and your family. One great neighborhood staple that many people and families enjoy is the Jacksonville Public Library. Despite former plans to make additions to the library building, the Jacksonville Finance Committee recommended that the architect go back to the drawing board and re-draw new plans which will work with the library’s budget for the proposed project. The Mayor, Johnny Smith, is looking for the city to set aside $200,000 for the library’s new addition, bringing the total budget for the project to $515,000.
Architect Had Bigger Plans
When the architect, Ronald G. Cannon, submitted his plans for the library’s new building addition, it came with a cost of over $900,000. While the addition would be been very spacious, covering the entire back parking lot of the Jacksonville Public Library, an addition of that size and cost is not feasible for the city.
