Students Have a New High School in Ponte Vedra Beach Florida.

High school students who live east of the new high school will be the very first students at the brand new Ponte Vedra High School. Students living west of the High School will continue going to Nease.

Ponte Vedra Beach vs. Ponte Vedra

The school is located just west of the Intracoastal Waterway in Ponte Vedra area. Before the construction of Nocatee everybody who talked about Ponte Vedra could of meant Ponte Vedra Beach. The two areas were interchangable. But with the new homes and high school there is now a definite distinction.

Ponte Vedra Beach (zip code 32082) is located east of the Intracoastal Waterway and west of the Atlantic Ocean. Subdivisions include Marsh Landing, Sawgrass Country Club, Sawgrass Players Club, Plantation Oaks, Sawmill Lakes and Odom's Mill.

Ponte Vedra (zip code 32081) is located west of the Intracoastal Waterway and is largely made up of the new city-village Nocatee. Nocatee is just under construction with the first home owners moving in about 5 months ago.

Unique Courses at the New Ponte Vedra High School

Chinese and Latin will be taught at the new high school. French will not be taught except for continuation of classes for students who have already started the French language track at other schools.

The St. Johns County School System puts specialized "academies" at each high school for in depth teaching. At PV HIgh School there will be academies focusing on Business, Marketing, Biotechnology and Medical Research.

In addition, honor and AP classes will be offered depending on if enough students sign up for a specific subject. If there are not enough students interested in any one class then it will not be taught.
