The search for the perfect Ponte Vedra Beach home can be an exhilarating, albeit confusing, experience.  Numerous houses, many of which may have appealing features and amenities, can often overwhelm you during the home buying experience, and rational thinking about your needs and wants may be overshadowed by the initial “wow” factor.

Before you embark on your home search, it is important to sit down with you and your family and discuss which features your new Ponte Vedra Beach home will need to meet your family’s size and lifestyle.

Take your list with you when looking at new homes, and revisit it frequently when deciding upon the Ponte Vedra Beach property that’s right for you and your family.

Your list may include:

  1. Safety considerations – If you have small children or pets, or are considering either of the two, you will want to check out the overall layout of the home and examine whether there may be considerable safety issues with it. For example, is the home near a busy street, or is the layout not conducive to small children (i.e., many sets of stairs or open walkways)?

  2. Number of bedrooms – If four bedrooms are what you need, don’t settle for three unless you have the room or the budget to add on. If your children are small and they share a room, consider that, down the road, they may want to have their own rooms. Also consider an extra bedroom for an office, guest bedroom or playroom.

  3. Entertainment space – If you enjoy entertaining family and friends, make sure your new home is conducive. For example, you may be looking for a large family room and kitchen, or plenty of outdoor entertaining space, such as a patio or deck.

  4. Privacy – If privacy concerns are an issue, consider a first-floor master bedroom, or a private basement area that can serve as a private space.
