Home Improvement Projects That Can Save You Money
Seller
If your to-do list of home improvements for your St. Augustine home is enough to make your head spin, then it may be time to start prioritizing the projects on your list. The most important projects are those that, if left unattended, could end up costing you more money in the long run.
The following list of projects should also be on any seller’s to-do list, as they can attract more buyers and add value to the home:
- Gutters – If your gutters are worn, bent or damaged, it is probably time to replace them. Gutters perform a very important job by redirecting water away from the home. If neglected, poorly functioning gutters could lead to serious roof problems, water problems and foundation problems, among other things. In addition, clogged and dirty gutters can also lead to the above mentioned problems, so either be prepared to clean out the gutters several times a year or install gutter guards to prevent leaves and other debris from collecting in the gutters.
- Caulking – Windows and doors that aren’t caulked properly are like throwing money out the window, so to speak. A simple can of caulk and a few hours of work can greatly improve the energy efficiency of your home and prevent water damage to the window and door frames.
- Windows – New, energy-efficient windows not only add a great deal of value to your St. Augustine property, but they can also save you hundreds of dollars each year on your heating and cooling bills. In addition, new window installations can qualify for tax credits on your federal tax return.
- Ceiling fans – Here’s a simple, inexpensive home improvement project that (1) adds value to your home; (2) provides comfort and air flow to your home; and (3) cuts down on your heating and cooling bills.
- Sealing the deck – Sealing your deck is a great way to extend the life of your deck and make it look more attractive, as well. A great-looking deck is a great selling point for a home, too!
