As an individual or couple in the market to buy one of the homes for sale in St. Johns County,
Question # 1 – How long have you been in the real estate business?
Not that a new agent would be a poor choice, but typically the more experienced a real estate agent has, the better your home buying process will be. You want to make sure that everything goes smoothly, so the best choice is to hire an agent with a lot of experience.
Question # 2 – How much do you charge?
You will want to know your real estate agent’s fees up front to avoid any mis-communication or misunderstandings in the end. Usually, real estate agents charge a percentage, anywhere from one percent to four percent.
Question # 3 – Why should I hire you?
A good real estate agent will be able to answer this question without hesitation. It is probably best to hire an agent that is reliable, honest, friendly, smart, and provides good communication and follow-up both by phone and email. You do not want to get stuck with an agent that is impossible to get in touch with or that does not gather information in a timely fashion.
Question # 4 – Do you have references?
As with other professionals, you may want to check references before deciding which real estate agent to hire. If an agent can provide good references, it is a great way to find out if the person can really handle the job.
Question # 5 – What Is Your Strategy?
You will want to know how the agent will search for homes, how many homes he or she is willing to show you, how the agent will handle multiple offers on a property you are interested in, etc.
Knowing the answers to these five questions can help get you moving in the right direction to hire a good real estate agent.
