Your Jacksonville Beach home can be beautiful and environmentally sensitive, thanks to a great array of environmentally friendly products, sustainable resources and natural products. Your biggest problem when you make a decision to remodel “green” won’t be finding environmentally products, but choosing between them!

  • Kitchen Materials – The kitchen in your Jacksonville Beach home can be environmentally sensitive, and is often a great place to try your hand at green remodeling.

Your kitchen cabinets, for example, should be made from a recycled or sustainable wood, such as eucalyptus or bamboo. If your kitchen cabinets are still in good shape, just worn or outdated, cabinet refacing is another great option. Many people have even found beautiful cabinetry at their local architectural salvage center.

The hardwood flooring in your kitchen should also be recycled or made of a sustainable wood. Bamboo flooring is a popular flooring choice for today’s Jacksonville Beach home, and is quite inexpensive, as well.

  • Appliances – Replacing your old appliances with those that possess an Energy Star seal is a great way to cut down on your energy bills and be kind to the environment.

  • Bathroom Fixtures – Any bathroom remodel should include low-flow showerheads and toilets, both of which are kind to both the environment and your wallet in terms of lower water and sewage bills.

  • Paints and Cleaning Products – Luckily, there are a myriad of naturally derived cleaning products to choose from that will not pollute the waterways or introduce toxins into your environment.

Choosing low VOC paints will pay off in the form of little to no paint fumes in the home during your remodel.

  • Carpeting – Choose natural fiber carpets over their synthetic counterparts, as they produce less toxins and are kinder to the environment during the manufacturing process.
