Historic St. Augustine is home to the beautiful, wildlife-rich Anastasia State Park, which boasts five miles of pristine, powder-white beaches surrounded by wind-swept sand dunes and a picturesque lagoon encircled by rich tidal marshes.

Located on beautiful Anastasia Island, just south of St. Augustine, Anastasia State Park boasts four miles of immaculate beaches, a tidal marsh and maritime and upland hammock.

Plentiful Outdoor Recreation

Hundreds of thousands of visitors from all over the world make their way to Anastasia State Park every year. Camping, hiking along the miles of nature trails, relaxing at the beach or engaging is water sports are all popular pastimes enjoyed here.

Whether you enjoy camping, beach combing, swimming, fishing, picnicking, windsurfing, hiking, bird watching, or kayaking, you are sure to find a pleasing, outdoor activity to strike your fancy.

Spectacular Bird Watching

Bird watching is plentiful in Anastasia State Park, with blue heron, little blue heron, tri-colored heron, green heron, snow egrets, great egrets, white ibis, wood storks and roseate spoonbills making their home here. With a bit of patience and luck, you may even spot a red-shouldered hawk or a bald eagle in this pristine environment.

The marshes, sea meadows, the coastal hammock and even along the campground roadside are perfect areas for spotting birds.

Loads of Amenities

The beaches of Anastasia State Park are perhaps as beautiful as the surrounding land, and are a popular spot for nature lovers, beach combers or those simply desiring a quiet, relaxing day at the shore.

Over four miles of beaches and several miles of park roads provide ample opportunity for cycling. There are bicycle rentals available within the park, as well.

Boaters can explore the Salt Run tidal marsh in a kayak, canoe or catamaran, while fishermen can enjoy the fishing area along Salt Run.

Anastasia boasts 139 camping sites for RVs and tents. All camping sites have electricity and water, a picnic table, an in-ground grill and a fire ring.

Other sites in the park include an interpretive exhibit which enables visitors to better identify the park’s wildlife and ecological zones, as well as nature trails, playgrounds, wildlife viewing areas and outdoor showers.
