School Information

Buying a home is probably the biggest investment most of us will ever make. If you have children, or if you plan on having children, it is definitely important to look at area schools to see what type of education you may expect your children to receive. Fortunately, most school districts have their own websites. These websites are great online resources to begin researching information about the local school district for any home you think you might be interested in purchasing.

If you have decided on a St. Johns County property, you are fortunate that the majority of the area schools are among the top-rated in the entire state. Below is a list of suggestions for when you begin really researching the schools your children may attend based on your potential new address.

Suggestion # 1 – Find out the school’s grade.

Schools in the state of Florida use a grading system using A, B, C, D, and F. ‘A’ schools are the best, ‘F’ schools are the worst. These grades are based on a number of factors, including the percentages of students who passed the FCAT tests.

Suggestion # 2 – Find out the average class size.

You can usually find this out by calling the school directly. Schools with smaller class sizes are known to offer a better education overall, as more personal attention is given to each student individually.

Suggestion # 3 – Find out if the school has won any recent awards.

This is a great way to gauge whether or not the school is actively involved in the community. You can find out about which awards have been won by which schools by checking out the school district’s website.

Suggestion # 4 – Go to the school and meet the administrators.

This will give you an idea of the school’s atmosphere and the personalities of the school administrators. Though they may be busy, most of them will take a few minutes to speak to you about the school and may even give you a tour.

As you search for St. Johns County homes for sale, keep these suggestions in mind. You can find out most of this information with a quick phone call or by going online.
