As the Ponte Vedra Beach community continues to grow, the need for a new school was realized and brought to fruition with the newly opened Ponte Vedra High School.
Just under one thousand students started school at Ponte Vedra High School this year becoming the first class of students to be ‘Sharks’, the high school’s mascot. The new campus was a welcomed addition, as Ponte Vedra Beach parents have lobbied for years for a new high school.
The good news for families in the market for Ponte Vedra Beach real estate is that your high school aged students will get to attend a brand new campus.
When you are considering a move to a new neighborhood, one of the most important buying decisions can be how good the local public schools are. A brand new 260,000 square foot school is a great selling point for Ponte Vedra Beach homes, especially one as organized and supervised as Ponte Vedra Beach High School was on its first day.
Crowding No Longer a Problem
Though most of the students attending Ponte Vedra High School live in Ponte Vedra Beach, the school was actually built to relieve a problem with overcrowding at Nease High School.
Now about forty percent of the students who attended Nease High School are attending Ponte Vedra High School. Some of the students were fortunate enough to choose which high school they wanted to attend. Because Nease High School offers a Baccalaureate program with advanced courses, the choice was more difficult for some than it was for others. Fortunately for the surrounding communities, there is not only one but two good high schools to choose from.
Parents are glad that the new high school is relieving some of the stresses on the students which occurred in previous years due to the problems with overcrowding.
